Take a Deep Breath

Sports is an interplay between physical and mental. This New York Times article describes the work that Jonathan Fader does with athletes to get their heads in the game so their natural talents and disciplined hard work can shine. We work with our kids on relaxing during times of extreme stress just like Fader does with his athletes on the Mets. Test taking, doing an oral report in class, getting up at bat are stressful times for kids. They are helped by simple strategies: slowing breathing, visualizing success, and using the 4-7-8 breathing technique.
