Do you Yik Yak?

‘Tis the season for turkey and family gatherings, where everyone has something to say whether or not anyone wants to hear it. Who has heard of the Yik Yak app? Those of you who have middle/high schoolers are likely hip to this already, but I thought it was worth sharing for those of you who are not in the know.

This is a platform where you can post anything you want,¬†anonymously. Next to the posts there are up and down arrows. People go on and upvote (for like) and downvote (for don’t like). If you have 3 downvotes, the post is deleted. The key to this is that it picks up the feed of anyone within a 10 mile radius.

Wow! This is absolutely unbelievable. It is basically a stream of consciousness from the minds of all the local teens.

How are they using it? Tonight there is smack talk about a football game. There is complaining about school. Talk about sex. Regrets about their fifth helping of pie. Everything. I signed up because I have teenagers and check in on social media on and off and this was a new one to me.

Take a look. It is an eye opener. Yik Yak, LLC is the app.
